there is so much griping about brokers, why don't traders use Direct Access Platforms for their executions?

Yes it would, but transferring stock and money can take you out of play for up to 2 or 3 weeks. . .so staying with a lousy broker is the lesser of the two evils. And since most of us signed up before there were many/any such ECNs, we missed out. Some of us are just busy. . .a word that has been known to be synonymous with lazy. Finally, there has not been found a broker without complaint. . . like trading one piece of junk car in for another. . .what's the sense? At least on your own junk car, you know what the problems are and how to fix them or rig around them.

But this summer, we'll be looking closer at ECNs and Direct Trading Platforms.
