I didn't care for his correlation either, however I do think its valuable to look over historic charts to maintain perspective.
I go back to more of a fundamental analysis of what is driving the market.....money flow......yea the guy on margin paid dearly today.......which if every last margin dollar was redeemd today that would of been 265 bil.....of course we can assume the number didn't come close to that.
Well, what if 113 bil came off the table, or the amount of new money that came in in the 1st qtr.
Or worse what if 5% of the value of the market was pulled.....some 700 to over 1 trillion.
Point is the market is like a big ponzzi scheme....the explosion in valuations experienced over the past 4-5 years could be vapor in a heartbeat if too many decide to quite playing the game, as prices have more to do with supply and demand than valuation.....
The last few days could get the attention of enough individual investor to cause a bit of rethinking....which in turn could lead to real trouble.
Oh well, rehashing same stuff......you get the idea......I personally don't give a hoot about some company selling for 8X revenues who got enough potential spin offs to justify 3 time their price (one guys argument for a issue today)...throw out the esoteric valuation arguments, gorrilla, 1st mover and other sales bull......in fact even quote old economy stuff heads for the dumper in a panic as evidenced by todays action.
Good trading Jorj,
