From the WSJ:

Amkor Technology Puts 2000 Capex At Up To $400M

Dow Jones Newswires

WASHINGTON -- Amkor Technology Inc. (AMKR) intends to spend up to $400 million in capital expenditures this year, according to the company's annual report filed Thursday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The company's capital expenditures in 1999 totaled $242.4 million.

Amkor said the 2000 expenditures will be used primarily for expanding its factories. The company believes the increase in capital expenditures is necessary to expand its capacity to meet the expected growth in demand in 2000.

In addition, Amkor said it "could incur significant additional capital expenditures" if it acquires Anam Semiconductor Inc.'s (Q.ASD) three Korean factories, from which it sources additional packaging and test services.

As reported on Feb. 28, Amkor signed a definitive agreement to acquire the three packaging and test factories for $1.4 billion. Amkor provides semiconductor packaging and test services.
