Dan, if there is one thing missing its HONESTY and that is supposed to be the bedrock of justice. Without honesty and its counterpart TRUTH, there can be no justice. A verdict based on lies is a scam; and yet most cases nowadays are based on lies. By the way, I gave my ideas for cleaning up the system in a prior post.

Dan,

What if he had been the drunken pilot of the plane that crashed and killed your children? Would you feel the airline was in any way responsible?

There is always criminal prosecution of the guilty party - in case of drunken airline pilot or driver - for murder if his conduct results in death, or attempted murder.

The bad part is that people are conditioned to believe that if something bad happens to them they are entitled to a cash settlement from someone. The lawyers broadcast it all over the TV in their commercials.

Our legal system can be very frustrating, what alternative do you propose?

First of all, take away the corrupting influence of money. System like the loser pays the legal costs of the winner, AND cost of the state to try the case, so that the taxpayer does not end up paying.

Then I would strictly enforce perjury. They can start with criminal prosecution of Clinton for perjury after he leaves office. That would put everyone on notice that perjury is not going to be tolerated.
