G.Lite at 3Mbps has been possible for a while now, it just has not been talked about much yet. I've heard that even higher G.Lite speeds are possible, but some do say that 3 Mbps will be its limit. It may or may not be Aware or one of its partners making the 3 Mbps claim this week, but I do think all G.Lite chips will be able to reach that speed by the end of this year.

This white paper is 6-9 months old and it mentions G.Lite speeds near 3 Mbps.
