It's only my opinion, but I don't believe that the trial and possible remedies are what's weighing on the stock at this point. The news is almost completely out and the only surprise was no settlement. The only thing left is the remedies, which most people don't expect to include a break-up of the company. So why isn't the stock at least back to the mid-90s trading range? IMO it's because of the huge uncertainty associated with the private lawsuits that have now been invigourated by the guilty verdict. Dismiss them as frivolous if you like, but the courts probably won't, and the negative effect these suits will have on the company's earnings are virtually impossible to estimate (the range is anywhere from zilch to chapter 11). Anyone have any new thoughts on this aspect of the situation? I've just about had it with this legal circus.
