Hello Jozef,

Re: when did you buy those chips from week 9, 1999? Was it recently?

I placed the order on 1/26/2000. At that time the supplier told me they had the 700's but had back ordered the dual fans I ordered for the processors. As I remember I took delivery around 2/12/2000. Roughly, the processors were delivered to me about 1/3 of the way through Q1.

Re: Maybe AMD is experiencing such a demand that everything resembling an Athlon die has been packaged and sold, including the early runs from the test fab.

That's possible. It certainly looks like the AMD has been experiencing VERY strong demand! The thing that gets me is if they gathered up anything and everything, why would my processors have week 9 of 1999 packaging dates? Were they gathering up that early? If they gathered up older stuff, would the printed packaging date be the date the die was enclosed inside its case (a later date) or the date the die came from wafer (an earlier date)?

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan
