Now that is very good news about Lucent using Aware's full rate and G.Lite ADSL in the new WildWire! I would think this new WildWire could really become a popular modem with its ability to offer V.90, G.Lite and full rate ADSL. Sounds like the ultimate modem for me. Now, when can I get one?

sounds very good. This is the kind of thing I have been waiting for. Of course if it had been three weeks ago, this might have sparked the rally we needed here. Hopefully it wont get totally lost in the shuffle. But that wouldnt surprise me.

Because I am obsessed with it, let's take a look at the differences between the stock of VRTA and same of AWRE. (today VRTA was up 30% or so).
(All data below taken from Yahoo)

outstanding shares: VRTA-22.7 mil.; AWRE-22.4 mil.

float: VRTA-5.8M; AWRE- 14.1M.
--the difference in float is the main culprit behind the larger swings seen in VRTA's stock price. You will notice they both have essentially the same shares outstanding. I think it is important to note that VRTA has only been public for about 6 months now. I would think (but I dont know this) some shares would be unlocked in the very near future, thereby increasing the float. This could put downward pressure on the stock price and ultimately make it less volitile.--

institutional interest: VRTA- 48 institutions own 40% of the shares in the float. AWRE- 161 institutions own 64% of the float.

--this would lead me to believe we have more stability than VRTA but that didnt seem to be the case over the last month. We fell just as far from our near-term highs as VRTA did.--

avg volume: VRTA- 3-month avg is 444,000 shares. the last 10 days the avg has been about 50% higher at 665,000 shares. AWRE- 3-month avg is 733,000 shares. the last 10days the avg has been about 25% lower at 540,000 shares.

--this statistic seems to favor VRTA in the near term.--

market cap: VRTA- ~2.6 billion. AWRE- 900 million.

price/book: VRTA- 23.00; AWRE- 16.50

price/sales: VRTA- 90.00; AWRE- 45.00

% of float short: VRTA- 0.3%; AWRE- 25%!

% float short from prior month: VRTA- 0.6%; AWRE 20%

--this is a big difference. Virtually no one is short VRTA (perhaps b/c they just came public), while as we know, a lot of people are short AWRE. AWRE's short interest increased about 10% from last month. VRTA's decreased about 50% from prior month.--

total cash on hand: VRTA- 81 mil.; AWRE- 36.3 mil.

--this is interesting. I wonder why VRTA has more than double the amount of cash as AWRE. Not sure.--

Perry, a comment on your post. This part I've clipped from it. The answer is yes. Our ADSL technology underlies the G.lite and full-rate ADSL functionality in Lucent?s chips.

If anyone needs more information than that to feel confident in investing in AWRE...sell!! I'll be buying more. <VBG>
