Publicly funded research has always been in the public domain. Patents on life forms raise a host of thorny issues and no lame duck presidential soundbytes can do much to change anything except the perceptions of the ignorant.

Thanks for the update. I've given up on cra. I just don't like the management style (too Gates-like). hgsi I never could get excited about and have never owned. affx I have been amazed at, sitting at and below its 200 for days as it has. I still own it and very much like it. I'm stunned by all this craziness. I'm just sitting back, thankful for my cash....
