This feels like we're turning up off the bottom. Placid action during the meltdown yesterday was extremely encouraging.

(I'm afraid this is all OT - but I can't resist adding to VC21's interesting post).

Long, long time ago, religion was making waves. No mixed marriages. Instead there are inquisitions crusades et al. About 50 years or so ago people said "so what"?

Not so quite a long time ago, people started to say the same things about nations and flags. Why not a mixed marriage? What is this piece of cloth called a flag? Who wants massacres at the Somme, Guadacanal, Pusan or the Tet offensive? What does that really change? So now we are back to AIDS and drug use (if we are not tinkering with embers such as Kosovo or Chechnya).

Moral: Don't trust religions or flags - and least of all, taxes to pay for them. The less government has, the better - unless it is for the local community. By all means, individuals should donate to world causes that worry us but this should not be institutionalized.

Apart from that, well when will THQI go past $20 again?
