I know slightly Cora and Peter Weiss. Cora is an heiress, who has been the main support of The Nation magazine,and the Institute for Policy Study, in past years, and Peter has joined in all sorts of front organization, promoting "peace, socialism, and one world government". Cora is the only person I ever met who deplored the fall of the Berlin Wall. Anyway, I was at their house once, and it was a large, but not ostentatious place in Riverdale (The Bronx). Cora did the cooking for the social occasion herself, and it became obvious to me that the rich have an added advantage over us: they can pat themselves on the back for not having live in help and making their own sandwiches! Think of the possibilities: a high degree of creature comfort (after all, I found out that she did have maid service during the week), combined with a vision of oneself as St. Francis of Assisi because one does not live up to one's means.........
