Yougang Re: That dive was not due to poor Q4 EPS, but partly due to AMD's poor handlign/guiding the Street during Q499.

I am delighted, to put it mildly, that AMD did learn its past lessons in dealing with the Street!

Yougang,
Much agreed, wall street analysts do not like suprises even if they are good. A few pennies to the upside is good. Fifty cents to the upside pisses them off.

Yougang Re <<Mani, AMD's financials were improving since Q499 and there was a memorable dive the day right after Q4 report.>>

There was no dive, stock finished the day lower couple of points or so. If you remember the stock gapped up at the open and traded substantially higher for most of the day. The reason it finished lower is that so many people had bought before the earnings, (which resulted in run up to the earnings) with the plan of selling right after the earnings.

Perhaps Sander is doing a better job of dealing with the street now, but AMD's performance is based on $1.1 Billion quarter and around $0.75 (or higher) Q1 earnings which was never the case before, not sanders dealing of the street. I would not be surprised if we sold off after the earnings again this quarter. But then again, since so many people are looking for the profit taking, after the earnings, it may not happen.
