by routing PACKETS OVER LIGHT

This is doubletalk. They are routing the packets, and sending them over light. It is two separate operations depicted as one.

Re: Optical Routing

Their slogan is "ENABLING a new frontier by routing PACKETS OVER LIGHT"

That's a nice slogan, but routing packets over light is certainly nothing new. A Cisco 7500 can do that today, and five years ago. Routing packets OF light WITH light would be interesting.

Avici has a pretty cool looking product. I've been watching them for a couple of months now. They seem to primarily compete with Juniper. I'll do a little more DD in a few days and let the thread know, if yall are interested.
