You gave examples of several quirky approaches to establishing the rule of law. "The fiats of kings." I liked that one. It is a good example of bad law because it is very unlikely that it is founded in sound principles of what is right and protective when considering the human condition. When I spoke of jurisprudence, I was referencing the foundations of our own laws. Yes, they do have origins in religious teachings, however the intent seems to have been to avoid ruling on the practice of religion and focus in on the principles of well being; which are right and moral and confirmable on a fairly universal basis.
