You left out the first sentance, they don't like big suprises, even if they are good. I know this is true. They like pleasant suprises, but don't like to get blown away.

For one; it makes them look dumb.

Second; If they can have a huge suprise to the upside, why not the downside?

Bottome line, analysts want predictable results with a pleasant upside suprise.
