Forest Oil Announces Significant Discovery in the Gulf of Mexico

DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 4, 2000--Forest Oil Corporation
(NYSE:FST - news) reported today a significant natural gas discovery at South Pelto 6 in the Gulf of Mexico.

The No. 2 Well, offshore Louisiana, was drilled to a total depth of 14,642 feet TVD, and logged an estimated total of 47 net TVD feet of pay in the Big ``B' channel sand. The well flow tested at 15.2 mmcfd and 460 bcd (approximately 18 mmcfed) through an 18/64`` choke at flowing tubing pressure of 8,850 psi. A caisson has been set and initial production is anticipated in July. Forest owns a 65% working interest in the No. 2 Well.
