Java GUI is where some people sort of went but Java client server is slllloooowww. Why do it? It's ok if its fast and trusted on an intRAnet but fundamentally nobody trusts Java and JIT compile is still not fast enough. I want control of the programs that run on my home box, don't you?

I can do a GUI with any sort of rendering engine, PS PCL5, HP or our own. Perhaps public domain. Reinventing the wheel?
Well making it rounder and faster, perhaps.

Why not a country-wide mail printing system that runs with smart card private keys and prints electro fax on demand at kiosk locations?
