Chuck, It is hard to find more than 2 or 3 instructions at a time in an x86 instruction stream without dependencies. Having more out of order execution units doesn't do much good, because you can't execute an instruction until all hazards are resolved. Willy's ability to complete a load on a half cycle boundary, and execute on the next half cycle is a plus- because it reduces the number of bubbles waiting for cache data to come back before execution.
