Richard or anyone. Any thoughts on this statement. Not sure what it means. Is Canada involved with forward sales ?

*OT* Richard, the key to understanding the Hegelian Dialectic is understanding his doctrine of Negativity. Synthesis is negation of negation. The first act of negation is cancellation. The second act of negation is preservation. The Process of History is a logical process in which each moment is cancelled and preserved in a higher state. Everything can be understood in this light. I am no Hegelian but I know the method and use it.

One needs to look at the contradiction inherent in every state of being to understand the Hegelian Dialectic and utilize it. Look at the master/slave relationship throughout history. The reason why the slave eventually wins out against the master is that the master becomes the slave of the slave. The slave does all the work and the master ( who holds the guns and wealth) becomes a fat cat and stops thinking. The slave ends up out foxing the master.

One can even understand the traditional act of God's creation in this light. When God supposedly creates the World, God is creating something other than itself. But the act comes from itself. The object is created from the subject, from the divine mind. The alienation, estrangement and exhaustion that takes place in this act of creating something other than oneself, causes God to take a Sabbath or day of rest after the Creation. When Nietzsche proclaimed that "God was Dead," what he meant was that God pined away as a result of the World's indifference to God's laws. The people who have caused this death, according to Nietzsche, are those humans who act in direct contradiction to their most vociferously stated religious beliefs or Faith.

The young Hegel of the Early Theological Writings and The Phenomenology Of Spirit was liberal and free spirited. The older Hegel of The Philosophy of Right and Science of Logic was more conservative.

Hegel offers a method for understanding history and the process of thinking. Politically, the method is neutral. It has been used by the Left and Right and can be used to justify everything that has taken place in history.

I think the Hegelian Dialectic can be used in regard to the POG? There are a few interpretations I can think of. But that is a subject for another time.
