i see what you mean...well, i agree with the personal responsibility part, but the way he put his rhetorical skills to work to make the Pasternak interview sound as if it had been a mere product of the journalist's imagination made me think he has an agenda. that there are lots of machinations on WS, including intervention by the PPT is beyond doubt for me. i always watch the market for signs of manipulation, sellers trying to hide their selling, buyers trying to hide their buying, etc. let me tell you, the market is full of this, every single day. insider trading is FLOURISHING in spite of the harsh laws. the boyz know the SEC is an understaffed paper tiger that nets only small fry from time to time....just take a CLOSE look at the trading in stocks and their options ahead of MAJOR news, and you will see that illegal insider trading is ubiquitous. considering what the NITE chairman admitted to in the WSJ interview, i must say the MM's are truly deserving of the moniker "market maggots". the Tuesday dip and subsequent recovery in the NAZ was one big rape of the small trader....at the crucial moments i couldn't get orders in and rest assured that the 'boyz' have picked all the margined longs clean. just look at GS: shortly before the sell-off, Abby cuts her equity allocation and sounds a bit down on tech. yesterday, post recovery, she re-affirms her bullishness publicly. today, GS recommends 7 tech heavies as 'must-haves'. it's modern-day rape and pillage, all on the back of the small 'investor' (gambler). and this is not personal sour grapes, as i profited a lot from the wild swings myself - got lucky in other words - as about half of my intended put sales went through. so yes, there is personal responsibility...anyone who buys a 200-p/e NAZ on WS hype ultimately deserves what he gets. but that doesn't mean that the inside crowd isn't doing everything in its power to separate us from our dough with highly questionable methods. we need a real crash urgently, to make it a clean place again until the next mania comes along.
