why the dollar is where it is is a mystery anyway. i think as long as the stock market stays up, the currency traders will assume that demand for dollars remains high. furthermore the big boyz are heavily into the Euro carry trade now, aided and abetted by the ECB which thinks it's great to do 'competitive' devaluations. thus there's a concerted effort underway to keep the dollar up. the whole world is in fact scared that it might tank one day, as everyone and his auntie is sitting on piles of US IOUs and depends on the US consumer to keep consuming him/herself silly.
