If the odds are 50-50 on a bet, over the long run you break even. If the odds are better than 90% on a bet, you come out ahead in the long run. I'll have to dig out the ol' college stat book and review.

Agree that margin use IS risky.

Margin is risky.
But it also can be very profitable.
It has allowed me to own more of stocks that I wanted than I could have without it.
But I do agree that one should be out of margin at times.
I'm attempting to get out around now.
A good time to get in would have been on the big down day and most Octobers.
