you might find helpful. Thanks for your on topic input here...

This one has been a great trader of late, thanks to the market conditions, but a buy and hold here is where the real money will be. As such, I've maintained my position, and will continue to take advantage of short term weakness.

Regards,

Frankly Huey, I think you made crystal clear some perfectly valid points on risk/reward.

I remember when Janet first posted her HR on ELON that the debate raged a little on the G&K thread over the proper time to invest in emerging companies showing pongoid characteristics. Seems like many are willing to risk bigger dollars earlier (myself included) to try to get their foot in the door pre-tornado. Personally I don't give a hoot about the American home networking market. With industrial and commercial applications alone, this company can be an enormous winner.

It is, by definition, NOT Gorilla Gaming on ELON...yet.

I think, like last quarter for many techs, we will get killed after earnings, so I wouldn't worry too much about "missing out".

Good luck. Hope you stick around--enjoy your posts here and on the WIND thread (now that one makes me REALLY nervous...bet we see 20's after earnings).

Huey,

I do not have it at hand, but echelon.com has most of those sources available. Click on "search" in the upper left hand corner of the welcome screen, and type in "conference call."

hueyone: links to Sun/ Echelon & opinion on Financial strength.

I respect your decision to play the game according to your own rules, but beg to differ with your interpretation that there is zero underlying strength in the income statement and balance sheet. I feel that this is a gross misstatement. While the company is not yet showing a profit, the eps has gone from -$0.24 to -$0.12 over the last yr and the Gross profit margin at 60.2% has increased compared to prior periods. Your previous post acknowledged a steady upward trend with respect to both revenues and earnings. Furthermore the Balance Sheet shows zero long term debt, minimal exposure to interest rate risk and a current ratio of 5.8. How this can be construed to be "zero strength" is quite frankly beyond me. echelon.com

Detailed numbers aside, Elon's valuation is heavily biased by expectations of future growth. A quick look at these expectations show a consensus for earnings this year of $0.01 and for next yr of $0.19. biz.yahoo.com. The new iLon Cisco certified server is expected to heavily impact future earnings, and I understand a number of new product releases can be expected this year. Unfortunately from what I can gather the conference call is no longer available.
