Right, and when margin is involved, as the value of the stock goes down, which it is bound to someday, the cost of the margin does not decrease, but in fact is continually increasing. (It's also increasing when the stock goes up) Margin destroys the symmetry of the 50-50 bet and turns it to a loser's game in which you can only adjust the timescale.

FWIT - I once thought that you could beat roulette by playing the same color, each time and doubling the bet after each loss. I gave up after 7 reds in a row turned up.
