the NDX is up 100 points. that's not 'weak'. who cares about breadth? i'm looking at various lists of stocks that are my personal mania gauges, and they are all sharply higher. the weak ones you point out are the exception, not the rule. if e.g. the whole brokerage sector were weak, i'd be more willing to attach significance to that...but it isn't, on the contrary. i also notice a LOT of skepticism expressed about the rally on LW. when the bears over there get very vocal, we usually rally some more. i would need to see weakness late in the day, for no particular reason (yesterday there was the CSCO rumor, which gets launched every now and then to allow some shorts to cover) to get convinced that there's more immediate downside. actually the fact that the market manages to move higher on so little volume shows there are not many willing sellers left...the big volume was on Tuesday, when the margined players got taken out. now the funds are running everything back up again.
