>So to belabor the D&A issue a bit more, you can't say that when an individual goes out
to have a drink the risk of suicide, accidents, disease, tragic and long term social
consequences will occur in relation to this one time act. You can say that when the
culture continues to wink at the practice of recreational stoning, all of these things and
more will occur and at a very significant level. <

WHERE IS THE PROOF FOR THIS???????? Lot and lots of people smoke pot- people of all economic levels, and all education levels- but with your mindset it's no WONDER no one's told you about it. What you wrote above is just loony tunes.

In a democratic society, legislatures are empowered to make policy decisions. Sometimes they authorize regulatory agencies to fill in the blanks. They do any number of things, like decide speed limits, set the age of majority, determine tax levels, and authorize budgets, that require debate and judgment, and may remain subjects of controversy. The fact that deliberation is required and the results are not infallible is neither here nor there. Lines are drawn, authority exists, people should get used to it......

brees, isn't there any way to make you see that your standards are not identical to those of everyone else, that what may seem reasonable to you may not seem at all reasonable to others, particularly when it comes to restricting individual behaviors? This is the weak point in discussions of enforcing standards in attire and in the current discussion.

So to belabor the D&A issue a bit more, you can't say that when an individual goes out to have a drink the risk of suicide, accidents, disease, tragic and long term social consequences will occur in relation to this one time act. You can say that when the culture continues to wink at the practice of recreational stoning, all of these things and more will occur and at a very significant level. So, if you look at all of society as part of your body and the risks to the action of one time recreational stoning as a big thing, like cosmetic surgery on your pinky toe, but a then do you see why I say the risks far out way the benenefits?

Good grief, brees! Do you know anyone personally who has smoked or otherwise ingested marijuana for recreational purposes? Sure, there are people who have "stoned out" as there are people who have become alcoholics. However, there are plenty of people who have a glass of wine with dinner and manage not to head straight for the nearest gutter. Likewise, there are plenty of people who smoke a joint now and then and suffer no deleterious effects and who certainly don't move along to any other drugs.

Did you watch Reefer Madness once too often?
