Hi Darrell,

you might be right...

BUT,

Dell is NO EMC is storage..... If anything, NTAP is...

Dell is NO SUNW in Unix, high-performance computing...

Dell is the BEST company in X86 servers, X86 PC's and E-Commerce .... Not the same thing..

They are NOT a R&D shop, like a SUN or EMC or NTAP or Cisco.
They are also NOT an acquirer of companies a la Cisco

I just feel that I cannot take a drop to the 40's again with 9 month options.... That's all

Best of Luck
Take care
Jean

P.S. Their growth and earnings have not been "so hot" in the internet age, at least since Jan 1999.... I am not one of those "dellheads" with cost basis on dell in the 1 $....

I bought at an average of 95 $ (pre-split) in jan 99..

Darrell - re: i'm looking for a company LIKE Dell that can deliver both growth and earnings in the coming internet age.
CSCO, JDSU???

i'm looking for $40 million dollars a day in internet sales.
CSCO??

i'm looking for the ONLY company that can be termed as a major threat or competitor to the booming business of EMC and SUNW
IBM??

I would not have picked DELL for those categories except maybe sales on the NET which does not have any effect on the bottom line.

Folks need to wrap their minds around the idea that DELL is in consolidation mode, they are adapting their business model to harvest incremental opportunities and solidify their gains in the mainstream. They are not doing any radical breakout moves as far as I can tell. The talk about how big the internet infrastructure markets are is just to prop up the notion of segment growth and DELL will "get their share"... all of this leads me to believe their guidance of 30%... maybe... but not more.

If they continue to avoid hype, meet guidance and targets, and do incremental expansion, the stock will show steady appreciation. I expect it to be predictable and therefore a good vehicle for options trades.

I doubt that the stock will be up 20% from here at the end of the year, more like 10%...
