Well X has been around for a long time and was developed when a meg of ram in a system was " YEAH Dream ON" Java was invented, developed in the time of msft virus (several million lines of code)of this 5 minutes. Now maybe this is why my datek realtime streamer java applet requires and average of 50% of a 200 mhz Ppro in Linux and 95% in nt4.0. Java also knows not a real number. While streamer is cranking at 50% the Xserver deamon goes from 1% to 10%

But alas the would judges the elegant X by buggy xfree 4.0 and mega pig KDE and just a pig gnome.

In my current 4eye watman.com I'm driving dual flat with nt4.0 200 ppro and two flats with p3 650e mandrake 6.1 xig 5.2 fvwm. I also still run dual crt 200 Pro linux 5.2 xig 5.2 fvwm.

Apparently the pig cpu requirements of the datek streamer can about once a week acutally crash the Xserver even on the p3 system. Now Datek keep releasing different versions of the streamer and I don't like playing it on my main system.

Now I've heard that in a couple of week the p3's may come down and I might decide to populate my second slot1 as my mandrake kernel is already smp and for a couple of hundred I can maybe up my ints&flops by 80 to 90%. Then maybe I'll have enough cpu to run java.

So why do we have X, well it's not broke and has no need of fixen, xig has perfected it.
