According to the article, the "delays" are part of
the imagination of someone in the Gartner Group, not
an announcement by Sun. I don't get it. Did Sun
announce the shipping of Ultra III's by Sept 2000???
They claim they are on schedule.

If Sun's competitors come out with a better hardware
technology 3-6 months before Sun ships the Ultra III,
I don't think it will make a big difference in
purchasing decisions, unless they don't deliver in
performance what they had promised.

So, what's the big deal??

What about the UltraSparc III makes them such a compelling reason for customers to upgrade? I have heard that they are more powerful and more scalable in the past. Is there any idea what else would make them a must buy for users?

Also has anybody heard about the expected release date of StarPortal?
