Taiwan's VIA Tech: No Comment On S3 Graphics Ops Deal
TAIPEI (Dow Jones)--VIA Technologies Inc. (Q.VIA) declined to comment on local media reports Friday that the Taiwanese company has decided to acquire U.S chipmaker's S3 Inc.'s (SIII) graphics chip operations.
VIA plans to announce the deal before next Monday, according to the report in the Chinese-language Economic Daily News.

The report follows recent speculation in the U.S. that S3 would sell all or part of its operations.

Last November, VIA and S3 set up a joint venture to produce integrated graphics and core logic chipsets.
