Myron, perhaps this patch resolves issue with Norton. This is Amazing if it's all true. Say computer crashes during a long file creation, GoBack a few seconds or minutes and recover file. A Safe Arrow is posted in Log whenever HHD is Idle, Problems? Goback to last Safe Arrow, seconds/ minutes and start over. Can't Boot UP?, when turning on computer a 10 second scroll bar advances across screen asking if you're having problems, Hit space bar and tell system you want to put in System Floppy and Boot. Go Ahead. Wish you had Backed Up system 2/3 weeks ago? Hit Revert, Create back up from Prior date you select.

Registry Patch for GoBack/Norton SpeedDisk issue

Issue: Some versions of Norton SpeedDisk will attempt to move the GoBack history file (GOBACKIO.BIN), causing disk read errors during or after defragmentation.

To solve this issue, we have released a registry patch that instructs Norton SpeedDisk to not move the GOBACKIO.BIN file. To install this patch, download GoBackSpeedDisk.reg (link below) then double-click the file to implement the patch. If after you implement the patch you still receive errors, disable then re-enable GoBack (note: this will also clear your GoBack history).

This patch can be run with all versions of GoBack and Norton SpeedDisk.

Download Registry Patch (GoBackSpeedDisk.reg) (110 bytes)

I'll post another clip shortly. Check prices at Computer/Discount Stores.

More reading stuff to put one to sleep<g>

GoBack offers immediate recovery from.

System Crashes

Because GoBack runs underneath the Windows operating system, it will boot even if Windows won't! After restarting your computer, just press the space bar when the GoBack splash screen appears. GoBack will walk you through the simple steps required to revert your hard disk to a time when Windows was functioning properly. You can be back to work in minutes!

Virus Attacks

With the lightning-fast proliferation of viruses and worms across the Internet, new and deadly strains are infecting PCs before anti-virus software can be developed to detect them. It is clear that anti-virus software is not enough to protect your computer and your data. GoBack is a perfect complement to your anti-virus software. If your system is infected and you have GoBack installed, you simply revert your hard disk to virtually any moment before the virus or worm struck, and all traces of it will be gone. Likewise, any data that was lost or damaged will be restored to exactly the way it was at the time to which you revert.

You can even retrieve work that you saved after the virus or worm infected your system. First, we recommend that you update your anti-virus software so that it can detect and disinfect the latest strains. Then, create a GoBack virtual drive that shows the content of your hard disk at a time after the virus was introduced, when the files in question were just they way you wanted them. Using Windows Explorer, you can find the files and drag and drop them to your current hard drive.

Failed Software Installations

With the burgeoning PC market, there is an ongoing need to upgrade and install new software. But testing the latest technology can bring your system to its knees, especially when incompatibilities surface or an installation overwrites a critical .dll and the program uninstall won't undo the damage. What then? With GoBack, you simply revert your hard drive to a time just prior to the install. The software is gone without a trace, and your system is running as though it was never introduced.

File Deletion/Overwriting

Whether triggered by user error or something more complex, data loss through file deletion or overwriting is an all-to-common PC frustration. But GoBack can get your data back in seconds. If you hit "save" rather than "save as", simply open Windows Explorer, find the file in question,
right click on it and chose "show revisions" from the drop-down menu. You can view, open and save all recent versions of that file. If you need to retrieve a file or directory that has been deleted, open the GoBack menu and select "create a GoBack drive showing another drive as it
was in the past" or "recover an old revision of a file that was deleted or changed." GoBack will walk you through the steps to restore your data.
