American jurisprudence has made great strides in the last 60 years. Most of these notions are firmly in place, the rest are permanent. The more the GOP moves to the right the less support they find. It is unlikely that this will reverse.

BTW, It's more like 2 steps forward, one step back than the metaphorical pendulum.
