It was the most volatile day in the history of the stock market.
Actually, the most volatile day was October 19, 1987, when the Dow was off by 22.6%. The 13% intraday decline in the Naz was comparable to the October 28, 1929 12.8% decline in the Dow, but that was at close, whereas the Naz came back.

absolutely, joe batttag was on cnbc over and over touting the bright future for soaring tech stocks--i used to look forward to watching him cause i knew he'd be bullish on tech...guess i'll take his comments with a grain of salt going forward
