International Rig Count Up 8% from February 2000;

Baker Hughes Incorporated (NYSE:BHI) (PCX:BHI) (EBS:BHI),
announced today that the international rig count for March 2000 was 606, up 44 from the 562 counted in February 2000 and down 7 from the 613 counted in March 1999. The international offshore rig count for March 2000 was 173, up 19 from the 154 counted in February 2000 and down 33 from the 206 counted in March 1999.

The U.S. rig count for March 2000 was 773, up 10 from the 763 counted in February 2000 and up 247 from the 526 counted in March 1999. The Canadian rig count for March 2000 was 394, down 150 from the 544 counted in February 2000 and up 196 from the 198 counted in March 1999. Canadian rig activity in March was impacted by the seasonal
breakup during Canada's spring thaw.

The worldwide rig count for March 2000 was 1773, down 96 from February 2000 and up 436 from the 1337 counted in March 1999.
