RESEARCH ALERT-ABN AMRO keeps Cymer as top pick (More...)

CHICAGO, April 7 (Reuters) - ABN AMRO said Friday it repeated its "top pick" rating and $75 price target on Cymer Inc. <CYMI.O>, and said it expected strong orders in the June 2000 quarter.

"At $52.75, the stock was trading at a P/E (price/earnings) multiple of 17.6 on our conservative 2001 EPS forecast, presenting a buying opportunity with a 40 percent-plus upside potential," ABN AMRO said in a research note.

"IC Insights, the leading market researcher for the semiconductor industry, has recently revised its forecast for wafer capacity growth in 2000 with the most significant change for the number of wafer starts below 0.3 micron," ABN AMRO said, noting that Cymer stood to benefit from that.

The stock was up 1-7/8 at 54-5/8.
