Better than expected earnings results trend continues:

07:26 ET Newbridge Networks (NN) 32: After close announced it expects record revenues for Q4, meeting or exceeding current estimates.

07:58 ET Safeguard Scientifics (SFE) 50 1/2: Prudential upgrades from ACCUMULATE to STRONG BUY with $94 price target; believes SFE's recently completed secondary will fuel an accelerated investment pace and position the company for greater returns going forward; Lehman initiates with BUY and $100 price target; and Deutsche Bank initiates with STRONG BUY and $70 price target.

08:34 ET Intel (INTC) 129 13/16: Prudential sees recent INTC weakness as a buying opportunity ahead of earnings conf call on April 18th; the speed of the Willamette volume ramp in 2H00 which arguably will be the best x86 architecture to date is critical - a quicker than expected ramp would be favorable to INTC in 2001; the x86 processor market may not be a zero-sum game in the near-term, hence both INTC and AMD benefit; speculation on Dell and AMD is a minor matter either way; expects both competitors to be "rational" which is good for both stocks for much of 2000.

09:35 ET Adaptive Broadband (ADAP) 49 3/8 +5 7/8: SG Cowen reits STRONG BUY after ADAP announced a five year $56 mln contract from Cybertech Wireless that will be worth $8.7mm in the first year; sees this as positive news and shows that fixed broadband wireless is ramping.
09:29 ET Alcatel Alsthom (ALA) 41 3/4: French telecom equipment supplier sees Q1 earnings per share significantly above $0.20, current estimate is $0.10; cites strong demand for telecom products.
09:26 ET Telecom Equipment : CSFB boosts 2000 U.S. carrier wireline capital spending growth estimate to 25% from 18% based upon recent upward adjustments to service provider budgets, which now point to 21% growth (to $94B) vs. 14.5% four weeks ago (up $6.3B); Optics, packet, and broadband access continue to represent the fastest growing segments of carrier spending.
09:21 ET Internet Capital (ICGE) 73 7/8: Robertson Stephens upgrades to STRONG BUY from BUY with a 12-18 month price target of $250. ICGE is their favorite pick in the B2B space. ICGE has established an outstanding portfolio of B2B companies.
09:21 ET Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc. (MLNM) 173 5/8: CIBC

LM Ericsson (ERICY) 87: CSFB reiterates STRONG BUY rating after an analyst meeting. The company is taking steps forward in CDMA, yet still has catching up to do. Any positives in this business will only supplement the strong performance the company is showing leading the TDMA and GSM infrastructure space.
