Hi mishedlo; This is in regard to the link giving current deployments of RDRAM vs DDR. This link should be an interesting thing to watch, as DDR systems hit the streets this summer:dramreview.com The only design wins they have listed are from the Nvidia chip: Creative Technology, Ltd: 3D Blaster(R) Annihilator TM ELSA Inc: Erazor X2 Guillemot Corporation: 3D Prophet ASUSTek Computer Inc: AGP V6800 Here are two more, that they missed: Absolute Multimedia: Outrageous 3D Leadtek WinFast: GeForce 256 DDR Nvidia is the designer of the chipset that is responsible for all six of the above DDR design wins. They've been getting a lot of press recently, due to their cheap high performance graphics chips:Included in this benchmark suite, 3D WinBench 2000 could only be executed on ten of the evaluated 23 processors. The GeForce 256 scored 66.2 on this 1024x768x32bpp test - more than a ten-point lead over the second-place winner. nvidia.com As PCs with DDR start coming out, you are going to see tests getting published similar to the one above, benchmarks where the DDR machines provide extremely high performance, combined with very low prices. Designers know this, and new designs are starting up with DDR. Speaking of new designs, at the Nvidia web site we have:Microsoft© Corporation has selected NVIDIA to design and manufacture the 3D graphics and multimedia sub-system for Microsoft's highly anticipated X-Box game console. nvidia.com Of course simply that Microsoft selected the company that is the leading user of DDR to design its X-Box graphics is no indication that they will also choose DDR for the main memory, but that is exactly the way that the Dolphin project went, and it is an indication of current thinking in the design community. In any case, Nvidia obviously knows what they are doing, and they are using DDR. -- Carl
