This auction system is an invitation for the challenger operators to poison the incumbent companies by forcing them to overpay. Agreed....but the problem is that under the alternative (the beauty pageant) most of the challengers will get screwed. I'm not sure that there is a "fair" solution.... It will be interesting to see who ends up going 3G first....the UK or one of the countries which used the beauty pageant. I guess it probably still depends on the final results of the UK auction.
