Whoa waitaseckint. There is a great deal of room between direct Gov't involvement in access to a thing and unmitigated trafficking in it. Do we have unmitigated trafficking in cars? Goodness no! I agree that consumer safety issues need to be addressed.
But on that topic, look at guns. A great many restrictive and punitive measures are being promulgated now under the guise of consumer protection. The trafficking in guns is tightly controlled, and still the antigunners are dissastisfied. Even with a 2nd Amendment, they are being given room to infringe yadda yadda.

That is why I do not trust government in this role. (Paradox. I would expect government to have the privilege and duty of monitoring identity, purity, dose - FDA style. But I would be loath to give gov't the right to determine who gets what, DEA style.) I'd sooner a private church were set up to administer the substance and rite. The separation of church and state (to paraphrase the phone commercial!) is, once again, your friend.
