Nielsen//NetRatings: WindowsMedia Traffic Jumps
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp.'s (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) WindowsMedia.com (http://www.windowsmedia.com) experienced a 208 percent jump in traffic among at-work Internet users during the week ending April 2 after releasing its new Windows Media Player 7 multimedia player, according to Nielsen//NetRatings numbers.

WindowsMedia.com grew from approximately 249,000 unique visitors the week ending March 26 to more than 767,00 unique visitors this week, Nielsen//NetRatings said. Most Popular Sites Among Females and Males

NEW YORK, April 7 (Reuters) - The top site for female surfers at home for the week ending April 2 was lancome.com, the Lancome Web site selling fragrance and skin care products, according to Nielsen//NetRatings.

Of the 143,000 unique visitors to the site, 92.4 percent were female. For female surfers at work, the top site was ltdcommodities.com, an online shopping catalog. Women accounted for 92.4 percent of the 233,000 unique visitors to the site.

The top site for male surfers at home was pricewatch.com, a price search engine for computer components. Of the 213,000 unique visitors to the site, 89.6 percent were male.

The top site for male surfers at work was theonion.com, a satirical weekly newspaper. Men accounted for 95.9 percent of the 227,000 unique visitors to the site. Shopping at the Internet Mall

NEW YORK, April 7 (Reuters) - Internet shopping malls and comparison sites help users find products or stores and compare product offerings for the best buys.

Among the top online malls and comparison sites for at-home users in February were: shopnow.com, with 812,000 unique visitors, spree.com (755,000 unique visitors), bottomdollar.com (551,000 unique visitors) and imall.com (273,000 unique visitors), according to Nielsen//NetRatings.

Nielsen//NetRatings measures and reports Internet audience behavior based on data collected from 43,000 home users and 8,000 at work users in the United States.
