I had a friend, a few years older, who had been (more or less) a real hippie in the Haight- Ashbury district, and even a Krishna Consciousness devotee for a while. She liked to have Ram Dass on hand to keep in touch with her early years..... I graduated in '78. At St. John's, there was not much drug use, with the exception of alcohol. A group of "bohemians" carried the flame, which tended to revolve around marijuana, low- dosage acid, and, increasingly, cocaine. Most of them tired of it, and slowed down before things got out of hand.......
