<<Did you eventually take those trees down for crappies? >>

Yes but it didn't work as planned. 4 am, blacker than the hub of hell, I slipped out to "my secret spot". Started dumping trees and it looked like they were FLOATING!! I had concrete blocks on them so that wasn't right. The lake is down 5' so instead of having 4' of water over them they stick a foot out of the water. So much for them being secret.

<<Tell me again about how you prepared those bluegills so that they were like shrimp. Do you think that might work with crappie?>>

It should work if they are out of cool, clear water. I got the gills through the ice. I rolled the filets in a commercial shrimp breading that was cornmeal based. Then I spread them - separated- on a cookie sheet and froze them. Put them in a baggie and removed all the air. When I wanted some I fried them up quick and poured on seafood sauce. Panfish out of good water are very mild and will take on flavors. This isn't a method for long storage either but mine were gone in a few days anyway.
