QS - re: the threat from Dell...
My response to that has been to sell half my DELL position and double my SUNW LEAP position with WJXAR Jan '02s...

I had some discussion on this point on the DELL tread, where people assume that just because DELL management says they are going after EMC and SUNW, they will somehow be able to do that. The fact that DELL has no products in the market space, no business model to support customers in that market even if they had products, and has shown no actual motion to move in that direction apparently has no impact on the DELLheads.

I read this as pure marketing rhetoric on the part of DELL management, an attempt to change the perception of DELL from a PC company (i.e. a company with 80% of their sales in a market which is increasingly a low-margin commodity business) into an "internet" company.

But unless they do some investment to go after that market, I don't see why anyone would take them seriously.
