"Science cannot say if being gay is desirable."
Agreed.
But "desirable" isn't the issue. That makes me thing of Queer Chic and exploitation of victimhood, the subtle idea that gays are better than the rest of us.
Conversely calling them >people who can't much help
themselves should be treated with compassion< very effectively conveys the subtext that gays are unfortunates, worse than the rest of us.
I seek the middle road, one of complete neutrality, neither fearing nor championing gays, but allowing them the same chances everyone else gets. Just plain people, no better (sorry PCs) and no worse (sorry religious right).

But X's kid's teacher easily made her kid believe in leprachauns. Some teachers are more persuasive than others.
Enjoyed your spying on kids' homophobia. You ought to write up your experiences.

Of course, there are some kids who live with same sex or homosexual parents who think that heterosexual marriage in weird. And science cannot prove that heterosexuality is beneficial. I think you ignore reality by assuming that all kids live in heterosexual environments.
How do you suppose little Jesus got along in shull when he told his fellow students that his father was God?
