ZO,

My point was that there are those that are discounting CSCO completely. The facts however are quite different. Cisco has been focusing on the SP for a very short period of time whereas NT, LU, NN, and ALA have been in the SP's for years (and we all know how long these sales cycles are). CSCO represents a very small share of the SP market and most of that is not the larger IXC's or RBOC (although Cisco is in all of them to some smaller degree...if only for resale). So, there are two points to be made.

1 - Cisco is penetrating the carrier market
2 - Cisco represents a small portion of this market today

I expect Cisco to continue to pentrate these markets... Oh... fwiw I only picked up a few of the releases on Cisco's web site...there are more....and DT's is not a small install nor is Global Crossings. Telia was a hic-cup from which it would appear Cisco is correcting nicely. ION... We shall see but whichever way it goes I think it would be bold to assume that Cisco is the only provider in this space that hasn't met all the customers expectations. It happens all the time and nearly all the carriers second source these days as they move away from proprietary implementations.

So, I think discounting CSCO is premature and given their small market share it would seem that perhaps a $1T market cap may be in the cards if they execute.... and 80% Qtr/Qtr growth in the SP space (which Don Listwin mentioned in a recent interview) is pretty darn strong.... you have to admit.
