thank you, Mark, for your great post. I really hope your predictions are correct - it would certainly restore my faith in the system. The thing I love most about the Internet is that closed doors are being opened widely, and I think it's wonderful.

Hi Mark -- I was out in Vegas most of this week on a company meeting so I am reading my favorite threads and trying to catch up on the good ones. I don't think that the conference call will be cancelled. I would not be surprised to see the offer sweetened in the next few weeks because of institutional pressure. The value of this deal depends on the value assigned to the VRTS stock.

A "Value" investor would rather be in the SEG shares.

A "Momentum" investor is looking at this deal and seeing the growth in VRTS shares combined with the growth of these other companies and wondering "Whats wrong with this picture?"

I also doubt the BOD will get replaced -- I expect we haven't seen the end of this bidding. Unless VRTS has a blow out quarter and the stock hits $200 on the 19th...
