I agree, simply from a marketing viewpoint. I've heard AMD may market the Thunderbird as "Athlon Professional" which I think is a good idea. It creates a distinction and value in the consumers minds separate from current Athlon chips, and probably leads one to believe the Athlon has been refined into a premium product, similar to what Intel did with the PII and then PIII. The Thunderbird must be faster than any chip on the market presently sold by AMD in order to create this product point of difference in the consumer's mind.
