Thunderturd will improve in speed but don't you think Willamette will too? Probably more IMHO.

The raw speed of the Willy pipeline is faster than Athlon. Athlon may be able to stay competitive for a while because it is being rapidly pushed into faster processes. Willy will have to be stabilized before porting to a new process.

I doubt that Willy will see a huge speed improvement from speedpath optimization. Each pipe stage is very short, and unless there are some gross errors in the initial implementation, there is a very limited amount of speed work that can be done to enhance the overall speed of such a pipeline.
