to me, it's just a matter of style...

I like to think of NP's as a proxy for the underlying. from that point-of-view, all the other things falls into place... when to sell the put, when to capture the prem, how to handle a sudden drop in price of the underlying, how many contracts to trade, etc.
doing so also forces me not to overleverage or 'panic' out of my NP position since I would not mind owning the underlying. nothing changed on Tues' drop fundamentally... covering my short puts never entered my mind... deciding when and where to put more on took most of my energy.

consistent returns? yes. but that doesn't mean one has to be continually in the markets. sometimes its prudent to sit out. I'm not always right, but I have my plans and my overall outlook and trade accordingly.
