$5.05, up 50 cents
Shares of Westminster Resources Ltd., which is involved in a Southern California gas exploration venture, rose as investors gain confidence from good drilling omens. "News is getting around that they're in the best quality rock and the largest gas shows yet at non-cased depths," Canaccord Capital analyst Jeffrey Fiell told Dow Jones. Companies involved in the prospect at East Lost Hills haven't released any official news on the findings, but confidence has been building in recent weeks, he said. Pictures of "flaring gas" posted on related Internet sites are also fuelling confidence, Mr. Fiell said. "Investors are probably sensing that we're nearing a conclusion to this thing, or nearing a production test," he said.
